The word “challenge” implies that it is a matter of opinion whether or not a problem in learning exists. A learning challenge is a learning style that falls outside of what might be expected in a typical classroom. When students think in a whole-picture fashion, it is difficult to learn from someone who thinks in smaller, sequential steps. While in school, learning-challenged students often require assistance from adults who place an emphasis on individualized learning. In many cases, the learning challenge can be a problem while a student is in school but an asset later in life.
