Learning disability is the common term used for those who have difficulty acquiring knowledge and skills to the same level and in the same manner as other students their same age. It does not indicate low intelligence. It is my experience (over thirty years of treating unique learners) that those given this label are really not unable to learn; they simply learn differently from more mainstream learners.
