The midline is an imaginary line that vertically divides the body into two halves. Because the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, and vice versa, crossing the midline can stimulate the two hemispheres of the brain to function together. An example of crossing the midline is when the left hand reaches across (the midline) to the right side of the body to pick something up.
